Frank Abagnale Jr (Leonardo DiCaprio), 15 years old, lives happily in 1963 New Rochelle, New York with his father Frank Abagnale Sr (Christopher Walken), and French mother Paula (Nathalie Baye). When a loan for Frank Sr. is denied at Chase Manhattan Bank, due to a series of IRS tax frauds by Frank Sr, the family is forced to move from their grand home to a small apartment. Paula carries on an affair with Jack (James Brolin), a friend of her husband. In the meantime, Frank poses as a substitute teacher in his French class. Shortly, Frank's parents file for divorce, and Frank, scared, runs away. When he runs out of money, he begins to use confidence scams. Frank's cons grow ever bolder and he even impersonates an airline pilot. He forges Lufthansa & Pan Am payroll checks and succeeds in stealing more than $2.8 million.

Frank Abagnale, Jr. (DiCaprio) est médecin, avocat et co-pilote pour une importante compagnie aérienne. Grâce à ses nombreux talents, il escroqua de nombreuses personnes entre 1964 et 1966 alors qu'il n'avait que 17 ans. Il devint ainsi le voleur le plus connu de toute l'histoire des Etats Unis, mais aussi l'un des plus recherché par le FBI. L'agent Hanratty (Tom Hanks), eut pour mission de capturer Franck et de le faire comparaître devant la justice, mais tâche s'avèra difficile puisqu'à chaque fois il se retrouva avec un train de retard. En 1913, le collectionneur allemand Wilhelm Uhde, premier acheteur de Picasso et découvreur du douanier Rousseau, loue un appartement à Senlis pour écrire et se reposer de sa vie parisienne. Il prend à son service une femme de ménage, Séraphine, 48 ans. Quelque temps plus tard, il remarque chez des notables locaux une petite toile peinte sur bois. Sa stupéfaction est grande d'apprendre que l’auteur n’est autre que Séraphine. S’instaure alors une relation poignante et inattendue entre le marchand d’art d’avant-garde et la femme de ménage visionnaire.

(In 1912, the German art dealer Wilhelm Uhde takes an apartment in a small French town where he hopes to write and take stock of his life. Les relations de Julien avec sa mère sont très tumultueuses. Ce dernier est fou amoureux de Lili, une jeune fille de la région qui ambitionne d'être comédienne. Celle-ci considère Julien avec tendresse mais elle est fascinée par Brice, un metteur en scène reconnu qui semble sensible à sa grâce. Un jour, Lili lui propose de tout quitter pour l'emmener à Paris. Cinq ans plus tard, Lili est une actrice célèbre. Elle n'est plus avec Brice. Elle apprend par hasard que Julien va tourner son premier long-métrage et qu'il parle d'elle...

Each summer, successful actress Mado spends her holiday in the company of her family at her home in the country. This year, she invites her boyfriend, Brice, a one-time actor who directed her latest film, to stay with her elderly brother, Simon, and son Julien. Prem, jeune homme au chomage, et Preeti, étudiante en médecine, ont un enfant hors mariage. Les crimes d'Adam ne représentent toutefois qu'un seul chapitre d'une bien plus longue et complexe histoire que Fenton désire partager avec lui. Et c'est seulement à la fin de ce récit, partagé entre le bien et le mal, la foi et le châtiment, qu'il pourra comprendre les motivations de son frère.

A man enters the Dallas, Texas FBI office one rainy night, and introduces himself as Fenton Meiks (Matthew McConaughey). He wants to speak to Agent Doyle (Powers Boothe) about his belief that his brother Adam (Levi Kreis) is the notorious "God's Hand" serial killer. Fenton explains that he is only coming forward now because earlier that day Adam had called him to say that he cannot stop the "demons" because there are too many, and killed himself. Fenton says that he stole Adam's body to bury it at the Thurman Rose Garden, according to a promise the brothers made many years ago. Agent Doyle continues to be skeptical, and Fenton unfolds through flashback the story of their childhood with their widowed father (Bill Paxton)
